Israel’s New Plan for the West Bank

the Israeli Knesset moves forward with a new law that paves the way for increased occupation in the West Bank.
The Foreign Affairs and Security Committee of the Israeli Knesset has approved a draft law permitting Israelis to directly purchase property in the West Bank, according to webangah News Agency.
This legislation would enable further Israeli expansion and occupation in the West Bank by allowing such land acquisitions.
The bill must undergo three readings and gain majority approval within the Knesset before becoming law. Currently, under a 1953 regulation, non-Jordanians, non-Palestinians, and generally non-Arabs are prohibited from buying property in the West Bank.
The committee chairman acknowledged that this law would considerably strengthen Tel Aviv’s control over the West Bank.
