Mogherini Resigns from European College Amidst Corruption Scandal
Federica Mogherini, former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has resigned from her positions at the College of Europe in Belgium and the EU’s Political Academy following a financial corruption scandal.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Federica Mogherini, the former EU foreign policy chief, stepped down from her leadership roles at the College of Europe in Belgium and the EU’s Political Academy on Thursday. This action follows allegations of financial misconduct within the European Union.
Several days prior, Belgian police detained Mogherini during a large-scale operation targeting the misuse of EU funds.
The arrest of the former High Representative involved raids on the College of Europe and the European External Action Service as part of an investigation into alleged fraud related to the training of young diplomats using EU funding. She has recently been released.
