Israel’s Gaza Strategy Suffers Setback: Key Mercenary Leader Eliminated

A significant blow has been dealt to Israel’s operations in Gaza with the reported death of Abu Shabab, a key figure leading mercenary forces. This incident underscores the challenges faced by Israel in maintaining control and influence within the region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli forces in Gaza have suffered a setback following the reported death of Abu Shabab, along with several of his deputies. Reports from Al-Mayadeen network, cited by Israel’s Channel 12, suggest that Palestinian resistance forces infiltrated Abu Shabab’s controlled area and targeted him.

The ‘Rade’ force, affiliated with the security of the resistance in Gaza, released an image of Abu Shabab with a message stating, ‘As we said, Israel cannot save you.’

The Israeli army radio acknowledged that many security officials in Israel opposed forming mercenary militias in Gaza, foreseeing their failure and destruction, drawing parallels with the situation in southern Lebanon.

The radio further reported that Ghassan al-Duhayni, Abu Shabab’s deputy, who was killed, had been wounded east of Rafah and transferred to Soroka Hospital for treatment.

Earlier reports confirmed the death of Yasser Abu Shabab, the leader of the ‘People’s Forces,’ militias associated with the Israeli regime.

Abu Shabab had previously met with Jared Kushner, a U.S. envoy, to discuss his forces’ role in areas outside Hamas control. He had a criminal record in Gaza for theft and drug-related offenses. Following the start of the 2023 conflict, he escaped from prison with Israeli support and began leading mercenary elements.

Israeli media outlets have admitted that the Israeli regime supplied weapons to these groups, many of which fell into the hands of the resistance and were used against the occupiers.

This incident highlights the failure of Israel’s policy of creating mercenary groups in Gaza. Even military and political support from the United States has not prevented the collapse of this project.

Palestinian resistance has once again demonstrated that the occupiers cannot protect their mercenaries, and that ceasefire violations and continued aggression only lead to increased defeats for Israel.
