US Senators Criticize Lack of Accountability in Shireen Abu Aqleh Killing

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US senators have voiced strong criticism regarding the lack of accountability in the killing of American journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh.
Senator Chris Van Hollen stated that no one has been held responsible for the death of Abu Aqleh, adding that the US government has failed to adequately address attacks on journalists under both the Biden and Trump administrations.
“The US government claims its priority is protecting Americans abroad, but it lies in this regard,” Van Hollen asserted, criticizing the US government for demonstrating no responsibility or justice in the Abu Aqleh case.
Representative Becca Balint condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, stating that his “extremist cabinet” continues to commit violence against civilians without being held accountable.
Balint added, “We demand accountability regarding Israeli attacks on journalists in Lebanon.”
Senator Peter Welch echoed these concerns, noting that Israel is delaying investigations into the deaths of journalists in Lebanon.
Amnesty International has also stated that the targeting of journalists in southern Lebanon by Israel should be considered a war crime.
