Thailand Dissolves Parliament, Sets Stage for Early 2026 Elections

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Thailand is preparing for early elections in 2026 following the dissolution of parliament. The interim Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, received the necessary approval from the King, according to reports from news agencies.
Reuters quoted Charnvirakul as stating that the parliamentary dissolution would have no impact on the ongoing border dispute with Cambodia.
A Thai government official also reported that the interim Prime Minister will speak with President Donald Trump today regarding developments in Thailand, including the border dispute with Cambodia.
Former Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra was previously removed from office by the Constitutional Court for failing to uphold ethical standards in the dispute with Cambodia.
Thai law stipulates that parliamentary elections must be held between 45 and 60 days after the dissolution of parliament.
