UN Peacekeepers Killed in Drone Attack in Sudan; Guterres Condemns

Six UN peacekeepers from Bangladesh were killed and eight others injured in a drone attack on a UN logistics base in Kadugli, Sudan, according to UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UN Secretary-General António Guterres reported that six peacekeepers were killed in a drone strike targeting a United Nations logistics base in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan state in central Sudan. The attack also left eight people wounded.

Guterres stated that all the deceased were Bangladeshi nationals serving with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

The Secretary-General strongly condemned the attack, calling it “unjustifiable,” and cautioned that assaults targeting UN peacekeepers may constitute war crimes under international law.

Guterres also demanded the immediate identification and accountability of those responsible for the attack.
