Clash Erupts Between Syrian Golan Forces and Lebanese Army in Bekaa Region

Syrian Golan forces reportedly clashed with a Lebanese army patrol in the Bekaa region, near the Syrian border, after the army attempted to close a smuggling route. The skirmish lasted approximately 30 minutes before Lebanese army reinforcements restored calm.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a clash occurred between forces from the Syrian Golan and the Lebanese army in the Bekaa region. The incident reportedly took place when Syrian Golan security forces opened fire on a Lebanese army patrol attempting to shut down a smuggling route into Lebanon.

A correspondent from Al-Mayadeen television network reported that the confrontation lasted for half an hour. Following the arrival of substantial Lebanese army reinforcements, the area was brought back under control.

The Bekaa region and the border strip between Lebanon and Syria have experienced recurring security tensions in recent years due to the activity of smuggling networks involved in trafficking fuel, narcotics, and weapons.
