Hamas Condemns Israeli Settlement Expansion in Occupied East Jerusalem

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas issued a statement Friday denouncing the approval of a plan by Bezalel Smotrich, Finance Minister within the Israeli cabinet, to construct a new settlement in occupied East Jerusalem.
The statement specified that the plan encompasses thousands of new settlement housing units, approved by the right-wing minister. Hamas asserts that this action represents a dangerous escalation of settlement construction, an attempt to annex the West Bank, and another crime added to the record of the occupying regime in violation of international laws.
Hamas maintains that the settlement plan aligns with an organized policy aimed at Judaizing Jerusalem, isolating it from its Palestinian surroundings, and altering its character and identity. The organization characterizes this action as an open assault on the rights of the Palestinian people, their land and holy sites, and a disregard for the will and warnings of the international community.
Hamas warned that the continuation of settlement construction fuels tension and instability in the occupied territories and that the occupying regime’s cabinet bears full responsibility for the consequences of these colonial steps in the region. Hamas urged the international community, the United Nations, and its legal institutions to assume their responsibilities and take immediate action to halt settlement projects and implement deterrent measures against the occupying regime.
Hamas also called upon the Palestinian people to strengthen their steadfastness and unity in confronting Judaization and displacement plans.
