UAE-Backed Mercenaries in Yemen Call for Rally Near Saudi Border

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Southern Transitional Council (STC), backed by the United Arab Emirates, has called on its forces to rally in the city of Seiyun near the Saudi border on Sunday. The move comes as military tensions between UAE and Saudi-backed factions in Yemen intensify.
The STC stated that the gathering is a critical step to demonstrate support for its leader, Aidarous al-Zubaidi. This development follows Saudi Arabia’s demand for UAE-backed forces to withdraw from the strategic provinces of Hadramout and Al-Mahra, a request that was met with defiance. In response, Saudi Arabia conducted airstrikes targeting STC positions in Hadramout.
Earlier in mid-December, UAE-backed mercenaries announced the start of military operations in Yemen’s southern Abyan province. They also seized control of parts of Shabwa province earlier this month and have advanced into Hadramout near Saudi Arabia and Al-Mahra near Oman, consolidating their control over these regions.
