Russia Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Cuba Against US Sanctions

Russia’s permanent UN representative Vasily Nebenzya has pledged full support for Cuba, condemning new US sanctions as Moscow continues oil supplies to Havana amid escalating tensions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia has reaffirmed its steadfast support for Cuba against unilateral US sanctions, with its UN envoy vowing continued assistance to the island nation. Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, emphasized Moscow’s commitment to supporting its Cuban allies “with all available means” due to their longstanding bilateral relations.

Nebenzya stated that Russia remains firmly dedicated to enhancing joint cooperation for global security and stability, asserting that new US sanctions would not break Cuba’s spirit of independence. The declaration follows Russian Ambassador to Cuba Viktor Koroneli’s confirmation that Moscow will maintain its oil supply support to Havana.

The developments occur as Politico reported the Trump administration is considering a naval blockade to cut Cuba’s oil supply. The Wall Street Journal recently cited sources indicating plans for US action against Cuba’s government before 2026, following Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro’s alleged abduction by US-aligned forces seeking to leverage Cuban elements against Havana’s leadership.
