France Urges End to West Bank Settlement Expansion, Reaffirms Unprecedented Sanctions on Moscow

France’s Foreign Minister has called for the annulment of Israel’s decisions to expand control over the West Bank, stating they threaten a two-state solution. Concurrently, Paris reiterated its stance on unprecedented sanctions against Russia, aimed at crippling its war efforts.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, France‘s Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, reiterated his country’s position, demanding the cancellation of what he termed dangerous Israeli decisions regarding the expansion of control over the West Bank. He stated that Israel’s projects threaten the division of the West Bank and hinder the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The French Foreign Minister also, reaffirming his nation’s policies, announced that the new package of sanctions against Russia is unprecedented and aims to paralyze Putin’s war efforts. He called for a ban on Russian maritime traffic.

This comes as Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, previously reported Hungary’s opposition to the European Union’s twentieth sanctions package against Russia. Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Foreign Minister, announced that his country would prevent the approval of the EU’s twentieth anti-Russian sanctions package, citing Kyiv’s failure to take action to resume the transfer of Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia through the Druzhba pipeline.
