US Energy Secretary Admits Navy Cannot Escort Tankers in Strait of Hormuz

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has conceded that the American Navy is currently unable to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, contradicting earlier claims made by President Donald Trump.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has acknowledged that the U.S. Navy is incapable of escorting oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz under current conditions. This statement directly refutes claims previously made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who had asserted that the United States would provide escorts for vessels transiting the crucial waterway in the Persian Gulf.

Earlier reports from international news agency Reuters had also cast doubt on President Trump’s assertions, emphasizing that the U.S. Navy had reportedly rejected all requests for escorting ships. Reuters cited the U.S. Navy as stating that the risk of attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz remains high, and therefore, they cannot guarantee the security of tanker passages through the strait.
