Hezbollah Demands Comprehensive Ceasefire, Rejects Partial Truce Offers

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hassan Fadlallah, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc and a Lebanese Member of Parliament, stated in an interview with Al Mayadeen network that Hezbollah‘s position is clear: a complete and inclusive ceasefire is the prerequisite for the enemy’s withdrawal and the return of displaced individuals.
Fadlallah added that the U.S. Secretary of State had attempted to present a new equation of “southern Beirut suburbs in exchange for the occupied northern territories” without a commitment to a full ceasefire, but this proposal was not accepted. New developments occurred after Iran’s involvement and the articulation of Tehran’s stance.
He further explained that the President of Lebanon informed them that Donald Trump, the U.S. President, had contacted the Lebanese Ambassador in Washington requesting a halt to retaliatory attacks as a prelude to achieving a comprehensive ceasefire. This matter is still under consideration, and communications with the President continue.
The Lebanese parliamentarian emphasized that his position is fully coordinated with Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, with the objective of reaching a complete and inclusive ceasefire.
Addressing the field developments, Fadlallah noted, “We are facing an enemy with a history of broken promises. The important thing is that we all arrive at a solution that safeguards Lebanon’s interests and sovereignty, and we will never accept a return to the conditions before March 2nd.”
Fadlallah’s remarks followed an earlier statement by an informed source in the Lebanese Parliament’s presidency to Al Jazeera, indicating that the Speaker had conveyed Hezbollah’s readiness to the President of Lebanon and the U.S. Ambassador in Beirut.
This parliamentary official added that Berri stated Hezbollah had declared its readiness to commit to a ceasefire, conditional on Israel’s adherence.
According to this source, Berri also provided assurances that if Israel abides by the ceasefire, Hezbollah will reciprocate.
The source further reported that Israel’s response to the ceasefire proposal was an escalation of attacks and continued aggressions against Lebanon.
In conclusion, the source emphasized that Lebanon believes Israel does not seek a comprehensive ceasefire and that what is being proposed to Beirut is merely a partial truce.
