Hezbollah Denounces Direct Talks with U.S., Citing Sovereignty Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hezbollah Lebanon issued a strong statement denouncing direct negotiations with the United States, labeling them as submission to American dictates and a weakening of Lebanese sovereignty. The group expressed unequivocal opposition to the recent diplomatic overtures made by Lebanese officials towards Washington for direct engagement with what it termed the “Zionist entity.”
Hezbollah stated that the direct negotiation rounds involving Lebanese officials are solely aimed at accepting and signing dictates from the U.S. administration. These dictates, it argues, would effectively confiscate Lebanese sovereignty and relegate the nation’s political standing to a position of appeasement with the “Zionist occupiers” and their “illegitimate regime.” The movement emphasized that no positive outcomes can be expected from these compromising negotiations, characterizing their origin as misguided and dubious, with the ultimate goal being surrender to the enemy’s demands.
The statement reiterated Hezbollah’s condemnation of the direct negotiation process with the Zionist enemy, its various rounds, and their resultant outcomes. It highlighted the detrimental impact of these talks, arguing they impede the enemy’s agenda, hinder the field efforts of the resistance, and undermine the significant sacrifices made by the Lebanese people. Hezbollah suggested that Lebanese officials could have leveraged these sacrifices and inherent strengths to secure a complete and unconditional withdrawal of the enemy from Lebanese territory.
Concluding its statement, Hezbollah described the continuation of participation in direct negotiation sessions as the daily implementation of U.S. government directives to Lebanese officials. It asserted that these actions are being taken unilaterally, without national consensus, and in contravention of the National Pact, the constitution, and current laws. The movement concluded that these efforts solely serve the objectives of the United States and Israel in escalating risks against Lebanon’s stability, independence, and sovereignty.
