Albania Protests Against Trump Family Project Enter 26th Day

Residents of Albania’s capital, Tirana, and other cities have been protesting for 26 consecutive days against a project involving the Trump family, demanding the prime minister’s resignation over alleged corruption and the ceding of national territory to foreign investors without binding regulations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, residents of Tirana, the capital of Albania, and other cities across the country have taken to the streets for the 26th consecutive day to express their strong opposition to a project involving the Trump family.

Protesters are calling for the immediate resignation of the Albanian Prime Minister, citing concerns over corruption and the alleged granting of the nation’s land to foreign investors without stringent legal frameworks. These demonstrations, fueled by environmental concerns, have become known as the “Flamingo Revolution.”.

The Trump family’s initiative involves the development of hotel complexes and tourism facilities on the uninhabited island of Sazan, as well as in the Zvërnec and Vlorë-Narta regions in southern Albania. Portions of these areas are situated within protected coastal zones.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner previously announced plans to establish a private island spanning 1,400 hectares in the Mediterranean Sea.

Trump’s daughter stated that this significant undertaking would be carried out in collaboration with international architects.

Under this project, Sazan Island, a former military site located near the Albanian coast, is slated to be transformed into the private island of the Trump family, with the Kushner investment company set to execute the development.
