Iran Holds Massive Farewell for Martyr Leader, International Dignitaries Attend

Tehran witnessed what is anticipated to be the largest funeral procession in its history as Iranians gathered to bid farewell to their Martyr Leader. The ceremony commenced on Thursday, drawing widespread public participation and international figures.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Al Jazeera network reported on the farewell ceremony for Iran‘s Martyr Leader in Tehran, noting that Iran expects this event to be the largest funeral procession in the nation’s history. The first day of the ceremony began on Thursday with the Martyr Leader’s coffin placed before a vast crowd of people, as mourning slogans echoed through the area and some attendees threw flowers towards the assembly.

Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, paid their respects to the late leader’s body. International participation in the ceremony was divided into three tiers: the general public who traveled to Tehran from across the globe, prominent figures including academics, religious scholars, media representatives, and members of resistance groups, and official delegations.

The ceremony saw the arrival of several high-ranking officials at the Imam Khomeini Mosque to bid farewell to the Martyr Leader’s body. Among them were Iraqi President Nechirvan Barzani, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Hibat al-Halbousi, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, and Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili.

Additionally, Ahmad Vahidi, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, participated in the ceremony, a rare appearance since the war. Attendees also included Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council; Cevdet Yılmaz, Vice President of Turkey; and Walid Al-Khuraiji, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, alongside delegations from Qatar, Egypt, and Oman who came to pay their respects.

Representatives from Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad also attended the event. The families of the late Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and the martyred commander of the resistance, Imad Mughniyeh, were also present.
