Pakistan Cargo Plane Crashes in Sea of Oman

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Boeing 737-400 cargo aircraft on a flight from Sharjah to Karachi crashed into the Sea of Oman. This report is based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Al-Sharq Al-Awsat.

Pakistan‘s Civil Aviation Authority announced that the pilot of the aircraft reported a technical malfunction in the navigation system to the Karachi regional control center at 21:18 local time. Air traffic control immediately provided the crew with the necessary guidance.

However, radar data at 21:21 indicated that the aircraft experienced a sudden, rapid descent and a severe change in direction.

Minutes later, radio and radar communication with the plane was completely lost approximately 155 nautical miles (287 kilometers) west of Karachi, over the Sea of Oman.

Pakistani officials have not yet released further details regarding the cause of the incident or the fate of the aircraft’s crew. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Some news media have reported the possibility that the aircraft may have been targeted by the United States.
