Syrian Parliament Convenes First Session in New Era

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the first session of the new term of Syria‘s People’s Assembly (Parliament) has officially convened. The session was attended by Ahmed Al-Shar’a, the transitional period president of the country, Mohammed Taha Al-Ahmad, head of the High Elections Committee, and newly elected parliamentary representatives. The event was reported by SANA news agency, citing data published by the Mehr News Agency.
At the outset of the meeting, the new parliamentary representatives took their constitutional oath in the presence of the transitional period president.
Mohammed Taha Al-Ahmad, head of the High Elections Committee for the Assembly, described this session as a historic and pivotal moment, emphasizing, “Today, we announce to the world that Syria has shed the dust of war. The true value of what we have achieved today cannot be measured by words; rather, its benchmark is the magnitude of the sacrifices made by the great Syrian nation.”
Following the oath-taking ceremony, the eldest member of the parliament, Osama Al-Assaf, called on the temporary Legal Committee to oversee the voting process, ballot counting, and to determine the regulations for electing the parliamentary presidium.
