Borrell: War Against Iran Would Be a Total Failure, Calls for Two-State Solution Pressure

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Josep Borrell, the former EU foreign policy chief, has sharply criticized the European Union’s approach to the conflict in the Middle East. Borrell highlighted that the EU overstepped its foreign policy boundaries by sending Ursula von der Leyen to the occupied territories to express unconditional support for Benjamin Netanyahu. Despite requests from Spain and Ireland, citing clear violations of international law, the EU refused to review its cooperation agreement with Israel.
Borrell emphasized the need to expand peace efforts to support a two-state solution, noting that Israel currently rejects this approach and actively works against it. He stated that the international community must exert pressure on Israelis, rather than merely attempting to persuade them.
Describing a potential war with Iran as a failure in all aspects, Borrell also commented on the preliminary agreement between the United States and Iran, which he characterized as highly favorable to Tehran.
