Russia Extends Gasoline Export Ban Through Year-End, Citing Market Stabilization

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia has announced an extension of its prohibition on gasoline exports, with the ban set to remain in effect until the close of 2026. This decision was disclosed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
Novak indicated that while the gasoline export ban is being prolonged, the restrictions on diesel fuel exports will be gradually lifted in parallel with market improvements. This phased approach is intended to prevent oil refineries from encountering issues related to surplus production and reduced processing volumes.
Earlier, on July 10, 2026, during a televised government session chaired by President Vladimir Putin, Novak had addressed the fuel situation, stating that diesel exports were suspended to bolster supply within the domestic market. He characterized the Russian fuel market as “still complex” and acknowledged that the current conditions at fueling stations were causing public concern.
The temporary gasoline supply shortages experienced by Moscow followed Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries, which have reportedly involved intelligence and military support from Western countries.
