Lebanese Prime Minister Arrives in Iraq for Official Visit

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has commenced an official visit to Iraq, leading a high-level ministerial delegation. The delegation includes Finance Minister Yassin Jaber, Energy and Water Minister Joe Sader, and Telecommunications Minister Charles El Hage. Upon arrival at Baghdad Airport, Prime Minister Salam was warmly welcomed by Iraqi Finance Minister Faleh Sari, with a formal reception ceremony held in his honor.

Haidar Al-Aboudi, spokesperson for the Iraqi government, announced that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi will host Salam and his accompanying ministerial delegation at the governmental palace. Al-Aboudi further stated that a bilateral meeting will take place, followed by expanded talks involving relevant ministers from both nations. These discussions aim to bolster bilateral ties, expand cooperation in development and energy sectors, and address shared regional and international concerns.

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Nahar reported that the proposed “Iraq-Syria-Lebanon oil pipeline” project will be a key topic during Salam’s negotiations with Al-Zaydi. This visit to Baghdad carries significant strategic implications beyond bilateral relations, with the revitalization of the Iraq-Syria-Lebanon oil pipeline and the recommissioning of the Tripoli facilities topping the agenda. These discussions occur as Lebanon actively seeks to strengthen its Arab engagement.
