Hamas Political Chief Meets Turkish Foreign Minister in Ankara

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosted Khalil al-Hayya, the new head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, and his accompanying delegation in Ankara on Wednesday evening. Fidan extended his sincere congratulations to al-Hayya on his election as the new head of Hamas’s political bureau and wished him success in leading the resistance movement. During the meeting, al-Hayya presented a comprehensive report on the latest field situation and developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He warned that the “extremist cabinet” of Benjamin Netanyahu has intensified illegal settlement activities and desecration of holy sites in occupied Jerusalem. The head of Hamas’s political bureau emphasized that the movement has always maintained a positive and constructive approach in peace negotiations and briefed the Turkish side on the latest steps and efforts undertaken to achieve national reconciliation and Palestinian internal unity. In response, Fidan reiterated Ankara’s principled stance and its sustained, comprehensive support for the just Palestinian cause in all international arenas and forums. The Turkish Foreign Minister stated that his country will continue its diplomatic efforts to keep the issue of the Netanyahu cabinet’s crimes in Gaza and the West Bank on the international agenda and to counter the threats facing Islamic holy sites. He also announced Turkey’s ongoing actions to send extensive humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, expressing continued support from Muscat and Ankara for a ceasefire and appreciating Hamas’s responsible and constructive role in the negotiation process.
