Palestinian Heavy Weapons Not to Be Handed Over Under Sharm El Sheikh Accord Details Emerge

New details from the Sharm El Sheikh agreement reveal that heavy weapons belonging to Palestinian factions will not be handed over, according to an executive document obtained by Al Mayadeen.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Al Mayadeen network has obtained a copy of the executive document for the Sharm El Sheikh agreement. Clause eight of this document stipulates that the process of counting heavy weapons will commence after the remaining commitments in the Sharm El Sheikh protocol are fulfilled.

Based on this document, the process will begin following the arrival of the National Committee and the deployment of the international stability-keeping force in the Gaza Strip. It will be implemented according to a timeline that anticipates completion within 14 days, with the possibility of extension by decision of the International Verification Committee.

The executive document for the agreement also emphasizes that the process of counting heavy weapons will be linked to the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli regime from areas it controls in Gaza.

Another section of the document states that Palestinian groups will participate in this process, and no weapons will be transferred or handed over to the Israeli regime or non-Palestinian parties.

Following the implementation of clauses 7 to 10 of the roadmap, only the National Committee will be responsible for maintaining or controlling weapons in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, addressing the issue of weapons and the implementation of the peace plan’s clauses will be linked to establishing a credible path towards achieving Palestinian self-determination and the formation of a Palestinian state.
