34 Migrants Die in Spanish Enclave as Morocco Border Crisis Escalates

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, 34 Moroccan migrants have died in an attempt to enter Spain‘s autonomous city of Ceuta in North Africa, as reported by Reuters, citing a Spanish official and Al Jazeera. The influx of migrants from Morocco into the Spanish enclave has been described as an attack and a violation of Spain’s territorial integrity by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

Sánchez stated on Friday that the Spanish government stands with the city of Ceuta and understands the anxiety and difficult situation experienced by its residents, particularly in recent hours. Juan Vivas, the head of the local government of Ceuta, revealed that approximately 60,000 migrants have crossed the border from Morocco into the enclave in recent days. This figure represents about 70 percent of Ceuta’s local population, a number Vivas described as an unbearable pressure, likening it to 34 million people entering Spain in a single 24-hour period.
