US General Warns of Military Strain in Defending Israel Against Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing officials, that the top US Army commander in Europe has warned the Pentagon that current naval resources are inadequate to continue defending Israel against Iranian ballistic missile attacks.
Reports indicate that General Alexis Grenkiewicz, head of the US European Command, has informed senior defense officials that without additional Navy destroyers, he might be compelled to prioritize the defense of American territory over Israel. This situation highlights the increasing strain on US military resources amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
According to the Washington Post, destroyers equipped with missile defense systems are among the primary US tools for intercepting Iranian ballistic missiles. Their scarcity places additional pressure on Washington’s military resources amidst escalating tensions in the region.
Pentagon officials described this communication as part of the military’s standard process for identifying operational risks. However, the newspaper added that neither the Department of Defense nor the US European Command has publicly commented on the matter.
