Qatar Urges Freedom of Navigation in Strait of Hormuz Amid Regional Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qatar‘s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held a phone conversation with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, on Sunday. The discussions focused on efforts to reduce regional tensions.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a release that during the consultation, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar stressed the need for all parties to adhere to dialogue and guarantee the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Qatar’s emphasis on the necessity for all parties to commit to dialogue comes in the context of previous U.S. aggressions against Iranian territory, which were conducted in violation of international law and occurred during indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington. These actions demonstrated to the world that the United States is not genuinely pursuing negotiations.
