Hamas Affirms Commitment to Second Phase of Ceasefire Deal
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, has confirmed its commitment, along with other Palestinian factions, to the agreed-upon provisions of the second phase of a ceasefire. A high-ranking Hamas official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that all relevant parties are expected to fulfill their obligations under the agreement.
The source indicated in a press statement that Hamas and other Palestinian groups are awaiting a clear and official response from Nikolay Mladenov, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, as well as from mediating countries, regarding the precise implementation mechanisms of the agreements reached. Hamas has once again emphasized its adherence and that of Palestinian groups to the stipulations of the second phase, including the full execution of commitments by all parties involved.
In parallel, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, acting as mediating nations, issued a joint statement condemning the ongoing violations by the Israeli regime in the Gaza Strip. The three countries expressed grave concern over the consequences of these actions on the progress of the ceasefire agreement’s implementation. They condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, advocating for the protection of civilians, medical facilities, humanitarian aid workers, and ensuring the unimpeded entry of humanitarian assistance into the Gaza Strip.
The mediating countries also called upon the international community to exert pressure on Israel to compel adherence to the ceasefire agreement. The statement further stressed that Israel’s persistent violations place the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement at risk, particularly following Hamas’s and other Palestinian groups’ agreement to a roadmap. Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey cautioned that these actions threaten de-escalation efforts and exacerbate the suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip.
