Italy Halts Purchase of Israeli Radar System for Rome Airport Amid Contract Irregularities

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an administrative court in Italy has halted the implementation of a contract to purchase an Israeli-designed radar system for Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, citing violations in the contract negotiation process. The report, referencing Israeli media via the Mehr News Agency, indicates that the court has suspended the contract with the military company Rafael, giving the airport management approximately two months to replace the system with a radar manufactured by the Italian company ELT.

Court-appointed experts have stated that the Israeli system possesses military capabilities, necessitating different contractual regulations for its acquisition. Furthermore, the court has referred the case to the Rome prosecutor’s office to investigate potential legal infractions.

This decision emerges as Italy and the Israeli regime have experienced escalating tensions in recent months, stemming from disagreements over military collaborations and regional developments.
