Russia Criticizes Japanese PM for Failing to Name US in Atomic Bombing Anniversary Speech

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Japanese Prime Minister Sanna Takaichi lacked the courage to name who dropped the atomic bomb on the country 81 years ago.

During a ceremony marking the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Takaichi did not mention that the United States dropped the bomb on the city.

Zakharova wrote on Telegram, “Does the current leadership of Japan believe that atomic flying saucers fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Shiro Suzuki, the mayor of Nagasaki, had the courage to directly state that the bomb was dropped by an American military aircraft.”

Three days prior, Kazumi Matsui, the mayor of Hiroshima, and Takaichi, at memorial ceremonies for the bombing anniversary, also refrained from directly naming the United States as the country that carried out the nuclear attack on the city. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also did not do so in his message.
