Trump Seeks to End Confrontation with Iran Without Nuclear Deal: WSJ

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by the Mehr News Agency citing the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Donald Trump is inclined to end the confrontation with Iran without achieving a nuclear deal and declare victory over the country.

The newspaper reported that Trump has privately discussed this idea with his senior aides, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping by Iran is one of the main conditions.

These officials told The Wall Street Journal that if the United States can contain Iran’s (peaceful) nuclear program and traffic in the Strait of Hormuz resumes, there is a greater likelihood that Trump will extend the ceasefire ‘indefinitely’.

The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal reported: It is expected that if Iran fully reopens the Strait of Hormuz, Trump will lift the maritime blockade against the country. Trump might extend the ceasefire, provided that the nuclear program is limited and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz resumes. Trump has told his aides that Tehran will not be able to resume its nuclear activities during his presidency.
