Iraq’s Foreign Ministry Condemns Colombia’s Recognition of Israeli Sovereignty over Golan Heights

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of Colombia’s decision to recognize the Israeli regime’s sovereignty over the Syrian Golan Heights. This statement comes as reported by Mehr News Agency.
In its statement, the ministry emphasized that the Golan Heights are Syrian territory and that no party has the right to alter its legal status or grant legitimacy to an occupying power without any legal foundation. The ministry further stated that Colombia’s decision carries no legal effect and does not alter the undeniable reality of the Golan Heights’ indivisibility from Syria.
The statement highlighted that recognizing the sovereignty of an occupying power over occupied territories constitutes a dangerous precedent that undermines the principles of international law and the UN Charter, particularly the principle of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its consistent position opposing the Israeli regime’s occupation of Arab lands and declared its full solidarity with Syria in preserving the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
