Russia Reports Downing Over 100,000 Ukrainian Drones in 2026

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense forces have shot down more than 100,000 Ukrainian drones over Russian airspace since the start of 2026.
Data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Sputnik, indicates that Russian forces neutralized a total of 101,868 drones from January 1 to August 16.
The highest number of downed drones was recorded in July, with 21,537 drones destroyed during that month. In June, 17,711 drones were also intercepted.
Over one-third of the Ukrainian drones shot down this year occurred in July and the first 16 days of August. Russian air defenses eliminated 37,996 drones during this period, accounting for approximately 37% of the total drones intercepted since the beginning of the year.
The highest single-day count of downed drones was recorded on August 16, when 1,478 unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted.
