Lavrov Accuses France of Resorting to Terrorism to Maintain African Influence

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that France is desperately seeking to maintain its colonial position in Africa and is resorting to terrorist activities to do so. Speaking at a press conference following discussions with Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Lavrov asserted that France cannot accept the loss of its influence on the continent.
Lavrov explained that Africa Corps units under the Russian Ministry of Defense operate on a completely legitimate basis, responding to official requests from the legitimate governments of African nations. These units fulfill tasks assigned by these governments, primarily focusing on repelling terrorist attacks. He suggested that these attacks are also planned by countries that cannot come to terms with the erosion of their colonial influence in Africa.
The Russian Foreign Minister explicitly pointed to France’s involvement, alleging direct cooperation with illegal armed groups. He claimed that France arms, finances, and trains these groups. Lavrov emphasized that these actions create significant problems, particularly for countries in the Sahel region. These nations have reportedly decided to completely and irreversibly sever ties with their former colonial powers and are consistently pursuing this path.
