While officials were delivering speeches, Trump was seen repeatedly closing his eyes, leaning in his chair, and at several points appearing to jolt awake from a brief nap.

In response to these observations, Adam James, a specialist in physiotherapy and geriatric care, who has previously raised concerns about Trump’s physical health, stated that the behavior is not solely indicative of fatigue, although tiredness plays a role. James suggested that this is the sign of a mind “wearing down inside his skull.”

He further elaborated that Trump’s actions point to symptoms of dementia, specifically “sundowning syndrome.” This condition is characterized by a worsening of cognitive and behavioral disturbances in some individuals with dementia during specific times of the day. James emphasized that Trump’s struggle to remain awake during the ceremony suggests deeper disruptions in his sleep-wake cycle, likely indicating that his brain is no longer able to maintain this natural rhythm due to potential damage to the part of the brain responsible for regulating the body clock.

Noting the absence of the whites of Trump’s eyes in some images, James speculated that the President might be using medications such as “Adderall” or “Provigil.” Concluding his assessment, James remarked, “Unfortunately, Trump has access to the nuclear launch codes under these conditions.”
