Israel Escalates Gaza Attacks; Hamas and Islamic Jihad Condemn ‘Massacres’
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli regime has escalated its attacks on Gaza, with the army targeting different areas of the Gaza Strip and leading to a number of deaths and injuries. In the “Al-Nuseirat” camp in the central Gaza Strip, an Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a young Palestinian, Sabhi Sami Shehata, whose body was transferred to Al-Awda Hospital. Israeli warplanes also launched an airstrike on the vicinity of the municipal park in the center of Gaza City. This attack on Omar Al-Mukhtar Street, near the municipal park, led to injuries among several Palestinians. Simultaneously, in the city of “Beit Lahia” in the northern Gaza Strip, two Palestinians were injured by the gunfire of occupation forces.
Palestinian sources reported that in the latest figures, the bodies of nine martyrs, including several dismembered bodies, were transferred to Gaza Strip hospitals following the bombing of the municipality police headquarters in Gaza City by Israeli warplanes. The number of injured has been reported as 15.
The Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza called on mediators and international forums to take immediate action to end the brutal crimes and aggressions of the Israeli army against the Gaza police force. The ministry emphasized that all claims by the Israeli enemy to justify its crimes and aggressions are baseless and that the Israeli enemy is attempting to dismantle the police institution to create chaos within Israeli society.
Hazem Qasem, spokesperson for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), issued a statement reacting to the escalation of Israeli attacks in Gaza and the performance of the Peace Council. Qasem stated that the occupiers committed a new brutal massacre by bombing a civilian center in Gaza, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a complete disregard for all ceasefire appeals. He added that the Peace Council is responsible for this escalation due to its failure to exert pressure on the occupier and compel it to adhere to the agreed-upon terms. Qasem asserted that statements from Peace Council officials that contradict the agreed-upon terms provide cover for the occupiers to intensify their aggressions against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement stressed that the continuation of killings by the criminal war cabinet of the occupying regime against the people of Gaza, including the recent attack on a café in Gaza port, demonstrates the regime’s rejection of all efforts to establish a ceasefire and its insistence on continuing a genocidal war against the Palestinian nation. Islamic Jihad stated that through these actions, the occupiers are disregarding all agreements, initiatives, and mediation efforts, and continue to pursue a policy of killing, bloody terrorism, and creating chaos in the region. The movement emphasized that the attacks in Gaza and the West Bank, its aggressions in southern Lebanon, and the treacherous, overt, and condemned attack on Idlib city in Syria demonstrate the regime’s continued policy of destabilization and expansion of violence in the region. Islamic Jihad concluded by emphasizing that all nations and countries in the region have a duty to prepare to confront this danger and end the regime’s crimes, crimes which its leaders proudly boast about and even compete over in their election campaigns regarding who is more extreme in killing and crime.
