China Rejects US Call to Join Iran Sanctions, Cites Diplomacy

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, China announced on Friday that American sanctions and pressure will not lead to a resolution of issues in West Asia. This statement follows recent requests from Washington for countries, including Beijing, to join efforts aimed at isolating Iran’s economy.
Lin Jian, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed reporters regarding threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, stating, “Sanctions and pressure will not help solve this issue.”
He further elaborated, “China urges all relevant parties to act responsibly and resolve problems solely through political and diplomatic means.”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson reiterated the necessity for all parties to take “responsible actions” to settle conflicts. Beijing, he declared, opposes unilateral and illegal sanctions that lack a basis in international law and the authorization of the United Nations Security Council.
