US Treasury Secretary Announces Further Sanctions on Iran, Plans Talks with China

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that an additional Iranian bank will be sanctioned this week as part of efforts to increase pressure on Iran.

Bessent also stated that he will be speaking with Chinese officials about Iran, emphasizing that “all options are on the table.” The U.S. official further commented that the assertion of U.S. hesitation regarding sanctions on China is an inaccurate narrative.

He added that there is an agreement with China on the necessity of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
