Dubai Tourism Plummets 44% Amid Regional Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, official data released by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism indicates a significant drop in the number of foreign tourists visiting the emirate during the first eight months of 2026, when compared to the corresponding period last year. Between January and August 2026, Dubai hosted 6.97 million foreign tourists. In contrast, during the same timeframe in 2025, the number of visitors reached 12.54 million. This represents a reduction of approximately 5.57 million tourist arrivals to Dubai compared to the previous year, with the decline reaching about 44.4% in the first eight months of 2026 versus 2025.

The statistics on the performance of the UAE’s tourism sector were published ahead of the annual Arabian Travel Market exhibition in Dubai, where tourism companies gather to boost the sector. These results follow a record-breaking year for Dubai’s tourism in 2025, which saw approximately 19.6 million foreign tourists visit the emirate throughout the year. However, the conflict initiated by the United States and the occupying regime against Iran has inflicted substantial damage on tourism in the UAE.
