Palestinian Resistance Movements Hail West Bank Shooting; Israeli Minister Demands Retaliation
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas has congratulated the Palestinian for carrying out a shooting operation near the Israeli settlement of “Nofei Nehemia” close to Ramallah, deeming it a practical response to the provocative statements and actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the tunnels beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement, Hamas emphasized that the operation is a legitimate and natural response to the continuous incursions by settlers and occupation leaders into Al-Aqsa Mosque, reiterating the Palestinian people’s unwavering commitment to defending Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.
The statement further asserted that the operation serves as a decisive response to the escalating aggressions and crimes of settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, sending a clear message that settler terrorism will be met with more painful retaliatory strikes.
Hamas urged Palestinians in the West Bank, occupied Jerusalem, and other Palestinian territories to intensify resistance operations through all available means, confront the actions of the occupation regime and settlers, and initiate a new phase of conflict to push the occupiers from Palestinian land and holy sites.
Fatah al-Intifada also commended the “heroic operation” by Palestinian resistance fighters in Nofei Nehemia, northwest of Ramallah, which led to the killing and injury of several settlers.
The movement declared the operation a natural response to the escalating criminal policies of the Israeli regime, its destructive actions in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and within Israeli territories, as well as desecration of holy sites and the oppressive measures and policies of terrorism and starvation against Palestinians in Israeli prisons.
Fatah al-Intifada stressed that resistance operations will continue as long as the occupation persists, calling them a natural response to the aggressions against the Palestinian people and land.
The Palestinian Islamic Movement Ahrar (Ahrar) celebrated the operation in “Nofei Nehemia” west of Ramallah, affirming the effectiveness and capability of the resistance to carry out operations at chosen times and locations.
Ahrar described the operation and other acts of Palestinian resistance as a natural reaction to the crimes and bullying of Israeli occupation leaders, their assaults on Palestinian lives and property, and the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards. The movement called upon Palestinians in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and occupied territories to intensify heroic operations that would disrupt the Israeli enemy and its security apparatus, keeping them in a state of continuous security depletion.
The Israeli army reported the arrest of the perpetrator of the resistance operation in Nofei Nehemia after he was injured and taken to a hospital.
Following the shooting incident near Ramallah, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the reinforcement of Israeli forces in the West Bank, imposition of restrictions, and the execution of operations and arrests to maintain the regime’s security. He also directed immediate measures for the demolition of the shooter’s home in Nofei Nehemia.
Netanyahu asserted that all “saboteurs” in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon would be dealt with, adding that Israeli forces killed an armed individual attempting to carry out an attack in the northern West Bank.
Israeli Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir described the killing of an Israeli settler as “deeply painful” and expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family and all Israelis.
Channel 14 of Israeli television reported an attempt to ram two Israelis with a Palestinian vehicle near Silwad, east of Ramallah. Palestinian sources stated that Israeli soldiers opened fire on a Palestinian vehicle, claiming the driver intended to carry out a ramming attack, resulting in the martyrdom of one Palestinian and the injury of another.
Previous reports from Israeli media indicated the death of an Israeli settler from the gunfire of a Palestinian fighter during a resistance operation near the Nofei Nehemia settlement, close to the Israeli settlement of Halmish near Ramallah.
