Iraqi Leader Abbas Al-Assadi Condemns ‘Oppressive’ Sanctions Against Iran
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qais Al-Khazali, the Secretary-General of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement in Iraq, issued a statement today, Saturday, affirming his organization’s firm opposition to the imposition of a naval, land, and air blockade against the Islamic Republic of Iran. He expressed that it is difficult to witness the suffering of the Iranian people while Iraq remains a passive observer, or worse, participates in this unjust siege.
Al-Khazali further stated that it is neither logical nor acceptable for Iraq’s stance on Iran to differ from its position regarding Turkey and Afghanistan, where it has opposed blockades against nations. He emphasized the strong social and cultural ties that connect Iraq and its people to the Muslim and faithful nation of Iran.
He called upon Iraqi political factions, parliament, and the government to adopt a decisive position on this matter. Al-Khazali urged the Iraqi people, followed by political groups, the parliament, and the government, to take a unified stance based on sovereignty and humanitarian principles.
