Russia Accuses UN Chief Guterres of Serving Western Interests

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that Russia desires the UN to be a true center for coordinating the interests of all nations. However, he criticized the current UN team, led by António Guterres, for its inability to fulfill the organization’s fundamental charter requests.

Lavrov elaborated that Guterres’s actions exhibit a double standard that benefits Western countries. He expressed surprise that the principle of self-determination is recognized for the Greenland archipelago within the UN framework, yet there is no similar acknowledgment for Russia’s Crimean Peninsula.

Lavrov recounted questioning Guterres about this discrepancy a few days prior. The Secretary-General reportedly responded that the issue had been considered for a long time and was considered different.
