EU Official Urges Member States to Supply Missiles to Ukraine
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, has urged member states to supply Ukraine with interceptor missiles from their current reserves. She further suggested that these reserves could then be replenished through new production.
The scarcity of air defense interceptor missiles has emerged as a significant challenge for Ukraine in 2026 as it confronts Russian missile and drone strikes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in August 2026 that allied nations had provided only approximately one-third of the air defense missiles delivered in 2025 during the first half of the current year. He highlighted a particularly acute shortage of Patriot interceptor missiles.
The global demand for these missiles, ongoing conflict in West Asia, and reduced stockpiles in the United States and several European countries have collectively exacerbated this supply situation.
