European Union Extends Flight Ban Over Persian Gulf Amid Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on Wednesday extended its ‘areas of tension’ advisory for the Persian Gulf. The agency has requested that airlines refrain from flying over the waters of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar until Monday, November 16.

This marks the second extension of the advisory since its initial issuance in July. The original warning had advised airlines to avoid the entire airspace of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council member states at all altitudes and flight levels, following an assessment of regional risks. However, this advisory was revised in August, narrowing the affected areas to the waters above the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

The update published on Wednesday stated that no changes have been made to previous recommendations, other than the extension of the deadline. This situation arises as illegal incursions by the United States and the Zionist regime into Iranian territory and the destabilization of the strategic Strait of Hormuz have led to such issues for other countries, including the European Union.
