Israel’s Attempt to Assassinate Hamas Leader Ali Al-Amodi Fails in Gaza

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli army radio announced last night that assessments suggest the Zionist regime’s effort to assassinate Ali Al-Amodi, the successor to Yahya Sinwar in Gaza, has failed. This comes as Israeli media outlets have been unable to confirm the success of the operation.
Channel 12 television of the Zionist regime reported that after many hours following the attack, Tel Aviv has not achieved confirmation of the assassination attempt’s success. This Israeli media outlet claimed that Ali Al-Amodi, the deputy head of Hamas‘s political bureau, is considered the most powerful man in Hamas in the Gaza Strip. He was freed in the 2011 prisoner exchange deal with the Zionist regime along with Yahya Sinwar and was one of Sinwar’s senior aides, holding the position of head of the movement’s public relations and media department. According to this Israeli media, after Sinwar’s assassination in October 2024, Al-Amodi effectively took command of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Some sources have indicated that following the selection of Khalil Al-Hayya as the head of Hamas’s political bureau in July 2026, Al-Amodi became the director of the movement’s affairs in the Gaza Strip and acting head until a new leader was elected. According to the same sources, between 2015 and 2017, Al-Amodi was responsible for overseeing the command of the “Military Media Department” of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.
After Sinwar’s selection as the head of the movement in the Gaza Strip in 2017, he was assigned the position of director of the movement’s head’s office in Gaza. This role allowed him access to numerous leadership files and expanded his network of relationships within the movement’s organizational and political frameworks. In mid-2021, he took over the leadership of Hamas’s media department in Gaza, succeeding Issam Al-Dalis, a member of the political bureau who had moved to head governmental work in the Gaza Strip at the time.
With the commencement of the Zionist genocide in Gaza, Al-Amodi’s responsibilities within Hamas leadership expanded, given the complex security conditions surrounding the movements of Sinwar and several members of the political bureau. According to sources, Al-Amodi assumed emergency command responsibilities within the movement after Sinwar’s assassination during an armed confrontation with the Israeli army in Rafah in October 2024, becoming one of the most prominent officials managing the movement’s affairs in the Gaza Strip.
