The Iraqi Ministry of Transport stated that the Iraqi Airways company decided to resume direct flights of the Iraqi national fleet to the Islamic Republic of Iran starting Thursday, October 8, 2026. This operational plan includes daily and regular flights connecting Najaf International Airport with the airports in Mashhad, Tehran, and Isfahan.

The resumption of flights is expected to significantly ease passenger transit and provide consistent air transport options between Iraq and key Iranian cities. The ministry emphasized that this initiative is part of broader efforts to reactivate air transport and enhance aviation links with various regional destinations.
