Local media reported that a powerful explosion occurred after a drone collided with a building in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on Saturday morning.
While confirming this incident, the city officials announced that the area is being evacuated.
Rashatodi network quoted Fontanka local media as saying that the explosion occurred in the northern part of the city and the facade of a residential block was “severely damaged”.
St. Petersburg Mayor Alexander Beglov declined to say whether the attack was a drone attack, saying only that there were no casualties. The balcony windows of two buildings were slightly damaged. The residents of the damaged apartments have been evacuated.
The press service of the St. Petersburg Health Committee later reported that six people were taken to medical facilities following the incident.
Videos from the scene of the accident have been shared, showing a yard full of debris and emergency services on the scene.
Russian government officials have not yet commented on whether the attack was from Ukraine or not.
