Russian control over a village in the Zaporizhia region
After Russia took control of the strategic city of Avdiyoka in late February, Russian forces continued to advance in the region and took control of the village of Mirnoye. |
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced in a statement on Sunday, “In the southern Donetsk region, the units of the Vostok (East) group of forces liberated Mirnoye in the Zaporozhye region as a result of successful offensive actions.” .
This village is located about 77 kilometers southeast of Zaporozhye city.
Russian control of the village came shortly after the liberation of Avdiyoka, an important stronghold that allowed Russian forces to advance further west.
According to the Russian Governor of Zaporizhzhya Province Yevgeny Balitsky, the Russian army entered the village of Rabutino in the Zaporizhzhya region on February 25 (6 March) and continued to advance its positions, and then managed to dominate the village of Lastochkino in the Avdiyoka region.
