US State Department: We have no confirmation about the target of the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria

The spokesperson of the US State Department claimed that there is no confirmed information about the target and party responsible for the attack by the Israeli regime on the Iranian consulate.

US State Department spokesman Matthew (Matt) Miller told reporters in Washington on Monday local time in response to a question about Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria: “We We are consulting with our allies in the region and gathering information about this attack in Damascus. Currently, there is no confirmed information about the target and the party responsible for this attack.”

At the same time, this official of the US Foreign Ministry claimed: We are always worried about actions in the region that escalate tensions.

Meanwhile, Miller emphasized: We have tried to prevent the spread of tensions since October 7 by recognizing Israel’s right to defend itself.

The spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said: We believe that this incident should not have an impact on the negotiations for the release of the hostages. Success in these negotiations and the release of the hostages is in the interest of all parties.
