Australia: Acceptance of an independent Palestinian state weakens extremism in the Middle East

Although the Palestinian Authority agreed to accept Israel’s sovereignty over 78% of Palestinian lands during the Oslo negotiations, Tel Aviv never agreed to recognize the independent Palestinian state in the remaining 22% (West Bank and Gaza Strip). According to Al Jazeera, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wang implicitly welcomed the recognition of the independent state of Palestine today (Tuesday).

Wang told reporters about this: The recognition of the Palestinian state can restart the process of peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel. This action undoubtedly weakens extremism in the West Asia.

He further pointed out: The recognition of the independent state of Palestine can only be achieved by ensuring Israel’s security and the two countries can live peacefully next to each other. This issue cannot be the only suggestion for the Palestinians to reach their goal.

Wang emphasized: This action will also strengthen the peace front and weaken extremism. This action weakens Hamas, Iran and Iran’s proxies in the region. The failure of this approach by all parties in recent decades and the refusal of the Netanyahu government to consider the wishes of the Palestinian people is the reason for this widespread disappointment among the Palestinians.

Recently, countries such as England, Malta, Ireland, Slovenia, Spain and Poland have announced their readiness to recognize the independent state of Palestine.
