Trump’s AI-Generated Video on Khark Island Attack Sparks Concerns Over Disinformation
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The Independent has reported that experts are warning about U.S. President Donald Trump‘s use of artificial intelligence-generated content concerning an attack on Iran’s Khark Island, an incident that did not actually occur. Such actions by Trump are seen as reducing public trust and exacerbating divisions regarding the realities of the war against Iran.
The report indicates that Trump previously released a fabricated video, created using AI, about an alleged U.S. strike on the oil infrastructure of Khark Island, claiming the island had been devastated.
The report stated that it was revealed these scenes were not real but were fabricated by artificial intelligence. Consequently, the U.S. Department of Defense promptly denied any attack on Khark Island. A Pentagon official emphasized that the island was not on the list of targeted areas. This issue extends beyond the dissemination of false content on social media.
Yesterday, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company responded to Trump’s claims about the destruction of Khark Island by stating that Trump’s tweets are laughable, that conditions on Khark remain calm and appropriate, and that oil activities on the island have not stopped for even a moment.
The Independent also referenced the Dorian hurricane incident in 2019, noting that Trump had then stated Alabama might be in the hurricane’s path. However, the U.S. National Weather Service denied Trump’s claim. The agency later presented a map that had been altered with black marker to include Alabama. Subsequent investigations revealed that the agency’s statement supporting the U.S. President had been issued under political pressure.
